Create an API key in your workspace, then point your MCP client at https://www.archilas.com/api/mcp with the header Authorization: Bearer <key>. Claude Code takes one claude mcp add command, Cursor takes a JSON block, and Codex takes a TOML block. The installer can do it for you and add prompt hooks.
1. Get a key
Sign up (free, no waitlist), open the install page, and create an API key. The full key is shown once, so copy it then.
2. Add the server
- Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http archilas https://www.archilas.com/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer <key>"
- Cursor: in ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or .cursor/mcp.json (one project), add an archilas entry under mcpServers with "url": "https://www.archilas.com/api/mcp" and "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <key>" }.
- Codex: in its config, add [mcp_servers.archilas] with url = "https://www.archilas.com/api/mcp" and http_headers = { Authorization = "Bearer <key>" }.
- Other clients: any client that supports a remote MCP server over HTTP uses the same URL. Clients that support OAuth can sign in instead of using a key.
3. Or run the installer
curl -fsSL https://www.archilas.com/install.sh | sh -s -- <api-key>. It needs Node.js 20 or newer. It adds the MCP server and a prompt hook that attaches matching notes before each prompt.
- --remember saves a short note when a session ends.
- --no-transcripts turns off session transcript capture.
- --import-history uploads AI chat history already on the computer; --no-import-history skips it.
4. Check it works
Ask the agent to call archilas.ask with a question your team has answered somewhere. You should get a cited answer, or "no memory found" if nothing matches. Clients that reject dots in tool names can use archilas_ask and the other underscore aliases.

Questions
- What is the Archilas MCP URL?
- Which tools does the server expose?
- archilas.ask, archilas.remember, archilas.changes, archilas.import_history, and archilas.forget, with underscore aliases.
- Can I use it without hooks?
- Yes. Add the MCP server by hand and skip the installer. You get the tools without automatic context on each prompt.
